NSW Rugby Referees Association – History
The NSW Rugby Referees Association boasts a rich history, tracing its roots back to the early days of Rugby Union in Australia during the 1890s. Despite the unfortunate loss of many historical records due to a fire at the NSW Rugby headquarters in the early 1970s, our commitment to preserving and celebrating our heritage remains steadfast.
We are calling upon the public to assist us in reconstructing the early years of our association. If you possess any relevant documents, such as annual reports, news articles, or photographs, we would greatly appreciate your contribution. Please email to GeneralMember@NSWRugbyReferees.com.au. This page will be continuously updated with historical information as it becomes available.
We are particularly grateful to our colleagues in the UK who have already shared invaluable documents from 1898 to 1900 which you can view here. Together, we can keep the legacy of the NSW Rugby Referees Association alive and thriving.
