On behalf of the New South Wales Rugby Referees Association (NSWRRA), our Executive and our membership, we would like to acknowledge, celebrate and congratulate Angus Gardner on achieving the unprecedented milestone of refereeing 50 Test matches as he takes charge of the Six Nations match between Ireland and France.
No other Australian referee has achieved this feat, and we are rightly proud of this achievement. It reflects the years of hard work, and to those who have had the benefit of working with Angus or sharing his journey, it is no surprise.
On top of setting the record as the most capped Super Rugby referee of all time, World Rugby Referee of the Year in 2018, a semi-final referee at Rugby World Cup 2023, almost 100 Shute Shield matches and close to 250 NSWRRA matches, it is an extraordinary list of milestones that will take a long time to surpass.
Congratulations Angus.
