We are thrilled to announce that Divan Uys has joined us as our new Match Official Development Officer (MODO)!
Divan brings extensive experience in refereeing, law, and the commercial world. With an impressive track record as a member of the South African National Panel (2017–2022) and a valued contributor to the Western Province Referee Society since 2009, Divan is now ready to make his mark here in Australia alongside his family.
The MODO role is vital in supporting and growing our match officials’ community across the NSW metropolitan area. Divan will focus on:
✅ Driving recruitment and retention strategies for match officials.
✅ Managing and developing the Sydney Youth Referee Academy, including participant selection, mentoring, and budgeting.
✅ Collaborating with stakeholders to strengthen relationships and broaden the NSWRRA match official community.
✅ Providing hands-on guidance and support for new referees, ensuring they navigate pathways, accreditation, and appointments with confidence.
✅ Enhancing engagement processes with the support of the NSWRRA Executive and Development and Appointments Committee (DAC).
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mitch De Lorenzo for his invaluable support during the transition and handover process.
Special thanks also to NSW Rugby Union, through Mark Green, and to The Rugby Club Foundation for their ongoing financial support and dedication to rugby development. Their partnership to help share “The Spirit of the Game” is greatly valued.
Please join us in giving Divan a warm welcome! We’re confident he will bring great energy and expertise to this role, benefitting our membership and all rugby stakeholders.
