COVID-19 July 1st Updated Restrictions

Dear NSWRRA Members,

Please see below a message from Tom Chadwick which was distributed to all NSW Suburban Rugby Clubs, please be advised that this health advice also applies to NSWRRA, meaning that no face to face organised training sessions or matches until at least Friday 9th July.

Thank you for your cooperation, patience and understanding over the last few days, particularly with the implementation of suspending rugby matches and training.  As you would be aware, restrictions on community sport have tightened again since Friday’s announcement, so that all of Greater Sydney is now covered by the stay at home orders.

NSW Rugby met with the Office of Sport and NSW Health on Monday following the release of the new Public Health Orders which effects Community Sport. Please be advised of the following for all Suburban Rugby clubs:

No Rugby Union can take place whether training or matches (until at least Friday 9 July 2021).

For clarity, this means no club or organised training and no gym sessions. Exercising in groups of up to 10 is permitted, but clubs should NOT conduct, organise or promote formal training sessions. There is likely to be some type of gradual easing of restrictions and a return to community sport post 9 July.  We will communicate how this impacts rugby in due course.

Please encourage everyone to keep monitoring the NSW Heath website.

Thanks,

Tom Chadwick
